Beautiful and spectacular Italian vintage chandelier; the sturdy structure is made of solid brass brushed and polished, the light points are made of cylinders, flared in the center, in milk-white opaline glass; in the first part of the six arms of the chandelier have been applied shaped inserts of teak of the best quality, the one from Asia; for the attachment to the ceiling the craftsmen have used three solid and strong cylindrical brass bars; the wise and balanced distribution of light points allows excellent and uniform, brilliant and refined illumination. The chandelier was made in Milan (Italy) between 1959 and 1962 and we can safely attribute it to the company Stilnovo. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. It was a laboratory and a hotbed of ideas during the post-war reconstruction and the following economic boom; the most prestigious names in Italian design have collaborated with Stilnovo, such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi Studio, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri and Gae Aulenti who designed memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What characterizes Stilnovo, in the '50s, is the production and marketing of lamps with particular and innovative shapes. At that time the objects were designed by the Centro Stile Interno, they became unique pieces, true symbols of the elegance of the 50s and 60s; in fact, they left an indelible mark in the design and fashion sector. In our chandelier history and innovation come together to create a timeless iconic object. The chandelier has been treated with ancient manual restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and is in excellent condition. The electrical system has been completely rebuilt (see photo) with U.S. wiring, the compatibility of voltage in other states must always be verified by an electrician before use.
