Practical and functional table lamp; the base, made of White Carrara marble, is in the shape of a triangle with a rounded tip, and the power button is placed on it; the sturdy stem of the lamp consists of two rectangular-section bars of satin-finished brass; the first bar starts from the base with which it is connected by a joint and with another joint joins the second where is placed lamp holder with large lenticular-shaped glass cap; the joints move with only 90° movement and allow the lamp to be positioned in different ways (see photo). The dome containing the lamp holder is made of a half-crystal worked in a special way, in fact, the glassmaker took advantage of the hundreds of air bubbles in the glassy mass when melting and managed to transform the glass into a pockmarked sponge-like agglomerate, compact and opaque; this type of inclusion makes the glass resemble a piece of ice; the special composition of the crystal allows the light to spread in a unique and original way, in fact when it is turned on the lamp projects a beautiful light into the surrounding space creating a cozy warmth, and with its icy appearance it plays with the natural light (of the sun) even when it is turned off. The base is made from "Bianco di Carrara," a type of marble that is extracted from the quarries of the Apuan Alps in the territory of Carrara (Italy), universally known as one of the finest marbles in the world. It is one of the varieties of the famous "pietra viva", and it is no coincidence that all the greatest sculptors and artists in history (Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini. Canova) made their most famous works precisely this excellent variety of marble, with such elegant hues that it seems almost ethereal. The lamp was created in a specialized lighting workshop in Milan (Italy) between 1950 and 1953. Our lamp with its simple and essential design hides an ingenious, innovative, and practical soul, ready to scatter light according to our needs; a model that is the result of careful stylistic research, in line with that historical period that straddled the past and the future. It will easily fit into any context of the home because of its timeless elegance. Measures width cm.22, depth cm.20, height cm.52 (adjustable). The lamp is in good condition. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
