6 years agoThe Touching History Behind This Antique Mirror and It's Provenance
Every antique item has a story to tell, it's an incredible satisfaction when you can know it and pass it on. In this case the owner told me the exciting story of this wonderful object. This important and imposing 19th century Florentine full lenght mirror has always belonged to the family of the private collector from whom I purchased it. It was exposed, together with another of the couple, in one of their hotels located in the north of Italy. During the Second World War, the hotel had been transformed by German troops into their headquarters and immediately after their defeat by the American allies the hotel was bombed. This mirror is the only work of art that has been saved, the collector's family. His family decided to took it with them during their move to Florence. Since then it has been the symbol of rebirth and memory in their new home in Florence . It is now in my gallery for a slight restoration and soon on sale on Artorigo.
