Flowers with vase
€2.900,00
Roland Ladwig (1935-2014) was a German artist who studied at Oskar Kokoschka among others. Whereas his early, figurative works and the Norwegian landscapes of the 1960's and 1970's are influenced by Edgar Munch, his later works show the impact of Lovis Corinth's late work and Kokoschka.
In this oil painting the artist shows different flowers and a vase on a white cloth. The bright surface, illuminated by a light source located on the upper right is moving because of a choppy, dynamic brush style and pasty paint application. The colors are mixed on the canvas, they are melting into each other and bespeak a fast painting technique. The counterweight to the cooler tones presents the red painted flower in the middle of the painting.
