Goldscheider Art Deco Figure 'Lady Dancer in Peacock Costume' by Paul Philippe
€14.500,00
SOLD
One of the most extraordinary and decorative models that Goldscheider ever has produced
Exotic dancer in a bustier and narrow loincloth, standing upright, leaning slightly backwards, looking to the right. Behind the artist, who also wears a pointed blue and brown ringed cap, a large fan rises up around her, starting from her hips, in the manner of peacock feathers in brown, green and blue. With her right outstretched hand she seems to be stroking them. On an oval, stepped black base.
Designed by Paul PHILIPPE (1870-1930), Sculptor, studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin. In 1900 he moved to Paris, where he soon lived in Les Fusains, an artists' colony at the foot of Montmartre in the 18th
arrondissement and was a pupil of Antonin Larreux ’(1859–1913). From 1902-1909 he exhibited at the salons of the Société des Artistes Français in Paris. Goldscheider made several of his Art Nouveau and Art Deco figures.
