Die geheime Botschaft (The secret message)
€11.000,00
Robert Poetzelberger (1856-193) was an Austrian genre and landscape painter, sculptor, lithographer and professor for applied arts at the Academies of Fine Arts Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. His paintings are influenced by the French Impressionism.
In the painting "The secret message" the artist shows three women in front of a powerful architecture. The iconography of the painting reminds of the depiction of the Three Maries at the Tomb. The entry door, crowned by a triangular pediment, is open and one woman carefully tries to catch a glimpse of the inside. The other two women are turned away, one is sitting on a stone bench, the other is standing and her dark blue dress seems to melt into the foliage of the tree. The stone steps in the foreground are covered with autumn leaves. The dark colors and the blurred contours give the painting a mystic, calm effect.
