Enki Bilal (born October 7, 1951, in Belgrade) is a French comic book author and filmmaker of Bosnian and Czech origin. Known for his science fiction works, he explores themes of time and memory. His stories often reflect on major societal shifts, like the fall of communism, religious extremism, and climate change. In 1987, he received the Grand Prix at the Angoulême Comics Festival. Memory, both personal and collective, plays a central role in his work, particularly in series like Le Sommeil du Monstre.
