Giovanni Rindler was born 1958 in Bruneck (South Tyrol). He learned wood sculptor there and from 1979 to 1981 he went to the master school for sculpture in Graz in Josef Pillhofer's class. He also studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna (1982-86) where Joannis Avramidis was his professor.
