Early vintage version of a pair of the Mira Chair by George Nakashima. The chairs are in walnut. One bottom of the seat still shows lines and is marked with Showroom. Here is a statement from Mira Nakashima about this chair: All I can say for certain is that it was probably made before she became ill around 2000, and it bears Adam Martini’s writing on the bottom, so it was made before he retired around 2002. The Mira chair has been in production since 1952, but the early ones had Poplar seats. Adam Martini made Chairs from about 1958 to 1991 or so, when we moved him from the Chair Shop to the Main Shop. So that Chair was probably made before 1991, perhaps even before my father died in 1990.
