Thonet Vienna Art Nouveau Table Model 8350 Otto Prutscher for Café Lurion c.1920
€8.900,00
SOLD
This most elegant table has round platter attached to tapering column which is based on round foot covered with brass mountings. The mentioned column is decorated with wooden stripes fixated with brass spikes to wood. This type of table had been designed by Prutscher for the Café Lurion (established 1903) before July 1914. This café is still existing in Vienna at Stubenring / Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Platz, but actual name is Café Prückel now. The original interior was given up after Second World War so that this café has furniture pieces nowadays created by Oswald Haerdtl in the fifties. DESIGNER: OTTO PRUTSCHER (1880-1949) was a very busy architect as well as leading designer in Vienna during Turn of Century (1900) as well as first decades of 20th century. He designed furniture pieces, for example on behalf of Jacob & Josef Kohn, further jewelleries, porcelain, book covers and textiles on behalf of Wiener Werkstaette. - BIBLIOGRAPHY: Giovanni Renzi, Il mobile moderno / Gebrüder Thonet Vienna and J.& J. Kohn, Milan 2008, pages 272/273 with original picture of 'Thonet Zentralanzeiger' of July 1914 (look at the attached picture, please).
