The game of chess first originated around the sixth century in India and became wildly popular in Europe in the ninth century, with pieces representing military units. The passion for chess has ressurged and skyrocketed with the release of Netflix's show Queen's Gambit. Based on the original American novel written by Walter Tevis in 1983, it follows the journey of Beth Harmon to become a chess queen and defeat her archrival Vasily Borgov. Not just popularizing this mind-boggling game, but the show also empowers women to move freely in worlds mastered by men. https://cosulichinteriors.com/blogs/news/queens-gambit

“Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire” performed by @christine.n.eggert & @dk.unfiltered on the PH Bow Grand Piano. The Poul Henningsen designed PH Bow Piano is a radical departure from the expectation of how a wooden-cased piano should be presented. It was Poul Henningsen’s innate belief that when designing a piece of furniture form should always follow function and that the practical performance of his creation was of paramount importance.

Two weeks ago we shared the exciting discovery of the Whitest White paint, now, are you aware of the fight over the Blackest Black? Vantablack vs Black 3.0 In 2016, Anish Kapoor, a British Indian sculptor, purchased exclusive artistic rights to use Vantablack, the blackest substance ever created, that absorbs 99.96% of light. In response, Stuart Semple, a British artist, created his own blacker black, Black 3.0, that anyone is allowed to use - "except Kapoor of course", initiating a fierce paint war. “I wanted to make a point about elitism and self-expression and the fact that everybody should be able to make art,” Semple said. In interior design, Piet Mondrian, the pioneer of Dutch Neoplasticism, the manifest of the De Stijl artistic movement, has influenced the Bauhaus style and cubism. It is characterized by the use of primary colors, strong asymmetry, vertical and horizontal lines... Despite the ultimate abstraction of his work, new research explores the distinction between figuration and abstraction in his art, suggesting that he never walked away from nature and his work is not as flat as always perceived, but presents the extensive use of different textures. (read more...) Mondrian Style certainly brings a youthful and playful touch, giving off a modern current vibe. As a part of our contemporary customizable collection, we can now recreate pieces with Mondrian patterns. Contact us to learn more. https://cosulichinteriors.com/blogs/news/get-the-de-stijl-look
Red has been discovered over 40,000 years ago and was used by our prehistoric ancestors to ward off evil spirits. Historically, Red is a symbol of prosperity, leadership, courage, confidence, and good fortune. Think about its revolutionary history and link to love. It is extensively used in art, fashion and design: from cave paintings to frescos, Chinese lacquer, impressionism... to become a trademark for designer Christian Louboutin as a symbol of exclusive style. A color that sparkles with enthusiasm and sensuality, Red stimulates conversation and creates a strong first impression. This vibrant hue gives off warmth and a strong personality. Red raises room energy and is a good choice if you want to stir up excitement and make space feel more intimate. Subtly incorporate red accents or go bold with bright red statement-making furniture to instantly spice up your interior. We are inspired by Pantone's courage and support its statement to dismantle the barrier to women’s equality. Shop RED here https://cosulichinteriors.com/blogs/news/blood-fire-in-design
This October, 18th marks the 102nd anniversary of Kolo Moser’s death (1868-1918), pioneer of Viennese Modernism. On this occasion we want to commemorate the universal artist with the new edition of one of his small masterpieces: a silver casket, adorned with corals, in the shape of a love letter. It was Gustav Mahler who commissioned Kolo Moser to create this special gift for his young wife Alma at Christmas 1902. We are proud to be able to reproduce this beautiful case after Kolo Moser’s design and to bring thereby a document of a historical love story to life.
